The parish was brought into existence on July 28, 1994. The first parish priest, a long-term rector of the monastery, was Priest Canon Zbigniew Latosi. After retiring, for two years a function of parish priest belonged to Priest Canon Mieczysław Rzepniewski. Then for 5 years – to Priest Prelate Zbigniew Karolak. In 2012, Priest Canon Dr. Romuald Kosk came to the parish and has since held the function of parish priest and head master of the Catholic Kindergarten of St. Anthony. Over the course of last years, numerous actions have been taken to save the decaying monument - the observance complex of buildings from the cusp of the 17th and 18th century. In 2009, crypts underneath the church were opened to tourists. Nobility, aristocrats and soldiers from all over Poland lay there (last burial - 1820). In 2011, the parish separated rooms to set up the Catholic Kindergarten of St. Anthony. In 2013, a group of socially active people along with the parish priest, Dr. Romuald Kosk, formed the "Monastery of Węgrów - the Dialogue Center" Association, which supports the revitalization of this historic monastery. The Association acquired the status of a public benefit organization and implements educational, cultural and charity projects.
The parish conducts pastoral, charitable, educational, cultural and, to some extent, tourist activities.
Activities are addressed to all age groups, both to the residents of Węgrów and of entire Poland. Continuous activities are religious (pastoral), educational (running the Catholic Kindergarten of St. Anthony and the common room for children and youth) and tourist (throughout the year tourists visit the church, historic crypts and the museum exhibition "Węgrów – the place where cultures and religions meet"). In addition, the parish also conducts educational and cultural "project" activities. Activities undertaken within the scope of the projects, which receive funding in open competitions, concern commemorating Węgrów's tangible and intangible heritage (history, art, concerts, historical stagings, popular science conferences, publications).
The parish has operated for 25 years. Over the course of past eight years, the parish priest has managed to develop great potential existing in parishioners. In 2013, there was established the "Monastery of Węgrów - the Dialogue Center" Association which supports the parish in conducting administrative activities, in raising funds for renovation and for cultural purposes.
The parish includes a historic monastery with an adjacent church from the cusp of the 17th and 18th century. In the monastery there are several rooms that are used for various purposes: conferences or educational, cultural and charitable activities. Until now, these rooms have been open for people organizing local and regional initiatives. We are in possession of musical instruments, sound system, projectors, computers and printers.
There are 3 people employed in the parish (a parish clerk, an organist and a curator). The first two persons perform duties related to religious activities. Whereas the curator is responsible for coordinating activities related to revitalization and animation of social and cultural life. He is responsible for preparation, writing, implementation and settlement of the applications. There are various groups involved in unpaid socio-cultural activities at the parish: the Catholic Youth Association (15 members); Neocatechumenal Way (34 members); the "Monastery of Węgrów - the Dialogue Center" Association (26 members). In addition, there is the Catholic Kindergarten of St. Anthony that employs 34 people.
