June 8,
TVP Warszawa has broadcast in Kurier Mazowiecki renovation works in the monastery in Węgrów (the material begins from 7th minute and 17th second).
The former monastery of the Observant Franciscan frairs is a complex of buildings with great potential from the 17th century. Throughout the last five years the church and its surroundings have undergone a thorough revitalization. There has been created a modern, multimedia Museum Exposition “Węgrów - the place where cultures and religions meet" in the basement of the monastery; the last conservation works of the frescoes still take place in the cloister of the monastery. Currently, installation of ventilation system is provided in the entire facility and there are preparations to glaze the monastery's inner courtyard. When works are completed, the Center for Dialogue of Cultures will be created - a place for education, culture and international bonds. A new tourist product - the Trail of Observance Monasteries will appear - it will connect two countries: Poland and Ukraine.
The project "Twin monasteries: Węgrów and Rawa Ruska - unlocking the potential of the historical heritage of the Observance Order to boost tourism and socio-cultural life in Poland and Ukraine" was co-financed by:
